Ministry of the Interior and Safety Hosts Software Development Security Competition... Prize Money of 20.5 Million KRW Awarded to 12 Winning Teams
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Internet & Security Agency announced on the 20th that they will hold the "8th Software Development Security Competition" for university and graduate students nationwide from August 11 to 27.
Any university or graduate student currently enrolled or on leave at a domestic university can participate in the competition. Students wishing to participate can form teams of 1 to 3 members and apply through the competition website by August 4. Twelve award-winning teams will receive certificates, including six Minister of the Interior and Safety Awards, and prize money totaling around 20 million KRW. All teams that pass the preliminary round will also receive technical training support.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Internet & Security Agency will hold an online briefing session via YouTube starting on the 21st to introduce the competition and explain how to participate. Meanwhile, this year, the preliminary round will be operated using the software development security online education service provided by "WhalesLab," a company founded by Yoo Ji-sang, who won the Excellence Award at the 2019 SW Development Security Competition.

Software development security, which removes security vulnerabilities in advance, is becoming increasingly important.
