Andong City Distributes 'CO Alarms' to Lodging Facilities and Daycare Centers... Mandatory Installation on Gas Boilers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Andong City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 19th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Gas Safety Corporation Gyeongbuk Northern Branch to carry out a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm distribution project targeting 150 gas-using lodging facilities and daycare centers in the area.
Since the carbon monoxide poisoning death incident at a pension in Gangneung in 2018, to prevent accidents caused by carbon monoxide leakage, the installation of 'CO alarms' has been mandatory for new or replacement gas boilers since August 5, 2020.
For lodging businesses under the Public Hygiene Control Act, the gas-related law has been amended to require the installation of carbon monoxide alarms on existing gas boilers by August 4.

An official from Andong City stated, "We aim to ensure the creation of a gas accident-free 'Safe City' Andong not only through the carbon monoxide alarm distribution project for multi-use facilities but also through various gas accident prevention projects."
