[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Jooncheol, Commissioner of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency, personally conducted an inspection of quarantine measures in entertainment districts.
According to the Gwangju Police Agency on the 18th, Commissioner Kim visited the entertainment facility-dense area in Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, from midnight to 2 a.m. that day to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amid a recent surge in confirmed cases in the Gwangju area.
He checked compliance with administrative orders around the entertainment districts and encouraged police officers supporting enforcement.
The on-site inspection was carried out to review the implementation status of administrative orders from health authorities, such as the "business hours restriction for entertainment facilities from 00:00 to 05:00," following the elevation of social distancing measures in Gwangju since the 15th. On that day, the police inspected 185 locations including entertainment pubs and caught 2 violations involving 2 individuals.
During the special crackdown period on COVID-19 violations in entertainment facilities, the Gwangju police deployed a total of 151 officers, enforcing 1 violation of quarantine rules involving 1 person and 9 illegal acts involving 20 people. They plan to continue regular inspections and focus on quarantine prevention activities.
