230,000 Agree to Blue House Petition from Victims
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced that it will support a teenager who appealed for help through a Blue House national petition, stating that she is living in the same house despite being a victim of sexual assault by a relative.
On the 16th, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family issued a statement expressing "deep regret over the case of the sexually assaulted teenager raised in the recent national petition."
The ministry explained, "We will promptly confirm the victimized teenager's intentions and provide services such as admission to sexual violence victim protection facilities, psychological counseling, medical and legal support to help the victim recover as soon as possible and return to daily life."
A, who identified herself as a 19-year-old sexual assault victim, posted on the Blue House national petition board on the 13th, stating that she had been forcibly sexually harassed and assaulted dozens of times by her older brother since upper elementary school. Although a restraining order was issued, she is still living with the perpetrator, and because she is a minor, important matters are being communicated to her parents.
A said, "I reported my brother in the summer two years ago, and the trial is currently underway," adding, "My parents are siding with the perpetrator, my brother, and have hired a private lawyer to prepare for the trial, while I am preparing for the trial with a court-appointed lawyer."

A appealed, "If this case is not made public, I will have to return to the devastated home and live as if nothing happened, so I consider this my last attempt and posted the petition." The petition has exceeded the government's response requirement, and as of the 17th, 236,531 people have agreed.
