Two Hyundai Development Company Officials Detained on Arrest Warrants in 'Gwangju Building Collapse' Case
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Regarding the 'Gwangju Building Collapse' accident that resulted in 17 casualties, arrest warrants have been requested for two officials from the demolition contractor HDC Hyundai Development Company.
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency Investigation Headquarters announced on the 16th that arrest warrants were requested for two individuals, the site manager and the safety manager, on charges including professional negligence causing death.
The police believe that while managing the demolition site, they inevitably witnessed illegal activities but either aided or ignored them.
In particular, based on the results of investigations by the Labor Office and special judicial police officers, additional charges under the Industrial Safety and Health Act were applied to the site manager.
It is known that they currently deny the charges.
