Sejong City Requests Budget Securing for 10 National Projects to the Democratic Party of Korea
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will request the Democratic Party of Korea to secure a budget for the promotion of 10 national government-funded projects.
The city announced that it will request national funding for major pending projects at the budget policy consultation meeting with the Democratic Party scheduled for 10 a.m. on the 15th.
The projects to be proposed on this day include ▲Construction of Urban Agriculture Support Center (300 million KRW) ▲Happiness City?Jochiwon Connecting Road (25.7 billion KRW) ▲Bugang Station?Buk Daejeon IC Connecting Road (2 billion KRW) ▲Sejong Complex General Industrial Complex Access Road (500 million KRW) ▲Sejong?Cheongju Expressway (16 billion KRW) ▲Maenggok and Deokhyeoncheon Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance (4.4 billion KRW) ▲Jochiwon-eup Urban Flood Prevention (10 billion KRW) ▲2022 Garden Industry Expo Hosting (500 million KRW) ▲Sejong Industrial Technology Complex Development (8.1 billion KRW) ▲Sejong?Anseong Expressway (300 billion KRW), with a total project cost of 367.5 billion KRW.
At this meeting, Mayor Lee Chun-hee of Sejong City will also propose nine local pending tasks. Major local issues include ▲Constitutional amendment for the completion of the administrative capital ▲Construction of the National Assembly Sejong Hall ▲Establishment of Sejong District Court and Administrative Court ▲Revision of Sejong City Act to lead decentralization ▲Amendment of the Happiness City Act ▲Early supply of housing in Happiness City and development of residential sites in eup and myeon areas ▲Expansion of public official rental housing and increase in priority supply ratio for local residents ▲Nuguna Jip 5.0 ▲Promotion of ITX Sejong Line.
Attending the consultation meeting are Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil, Policy Committee Chair Park Wan-joo, Chief Secretary to the Party Leader Kim Young-ho, Spokesperson Lee Yong-bin, Organization Secretary-General Min Byung-duk, Sejong City Party Chairman Kang Jun-hyun, Sejong Gap Member of the National Assembly Hong Sung-guk, and Sejong City Party Secretary Lee Hyung-tak.
Before the consultation meeting, the Democratic Party delegation led by Leader Song will visit Mayor Lee and the planned site for the National Assembly Sejong Hall to share updates on the amendment of the National Assembly Act.
Mayor Lee said, “The 10 major projects for which we are requesting national funding are necessary for improving the residential environment and urban development in the Sejong area,” adding, “We plan to ask for the ruling party’s interest and active budget support.”

He also stated, “Although 14.7 billion KRW for the design of the National Assembly Sejong Hall was reflected by bipartisan agreement, it cannot be used due to the lack of legal grounds,” and added, “Since the National Assembly Steering Committee has agreed to discuss the National Assembly Act, I will urge them to promptly hold a meeting of the Steering Committee.”
