Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Conducts Digital Sexual Violence Prevention Education for Parents

Online Registration Starts from July 19
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct parent-tailored digital sexual violence prevention education from August to October to enhance understanding of digital sex crimes.
This education is designed to raise awareness among parents about the risky situations their children, who have high accessibility to digital environments, may encounter online, and to find ways to prevent and resolve these issues through communication with their children.
It targets parents of children in grades 3 to 6 of elementary school, who are entering puberty and beginning to experience social and physical changes. The online training will be conducted in an interactive discussion format.
To increase the effectiveness of sexual violence prevention education, sessions will be held in small groups of up to 20 people per team, and evening classes have been added to expand opportunities for parental participation.
Applications for the education will be accepted online starting July 19. The recruitment announcement can be found in the notices section on the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education website. The education will be provided to a total of about 2,400 people, with 60 teams in the morning session and 60 teams in the evening session.

Cho Hee-yeon, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "Through systematic operation of sexual violence prevention education, we aim to prevent the risk of sex crimes against children and provide effective educational information through new educational methods. We will continue to make efforts to strengthen parents' capacity for child education by operating various parent education programs tailored to the age groups of children."
