Silla University to Export Korean Language Education to 'New Northern' Countries... Selected as Teacher Training Project Operator

On the 15th, Silla University announced that it will undertake the "2021 New Northern Region Korean Language Teacher Capacity Building Online Integrated Training Project."
Silla University's Silla Korean Language Education Center was selected as the training project operator to strengthen the capabilities of local Korean language teachers in seven New Northern Region countries, including Uzbekistan and Russia, and will operate a training course for three months until September.
This project, hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Tashkent Korean Education Center in Uzbekistan, is an educational support project that conducts Korean language training for countries in the New Northern Region where demand for Korean language education is increasing, aiming to build a network of local teachers and enhance the self-sustainability of Korean language education.
This year, Silla University will provide Korean language training consisting of two courses?a basic course and an advanced course?divided according to Korean language proficiency, for about 160 local Korean language teachers in the New Northern Region countries, totaling 30 sessions.
The training courses will include theoretical classes such as Korean language teaching methods (speaking, pronunciation, etc.), grammar, and Korean language comprehension, as well as various programs including Korean culture and history, special lectures by celebrities, and various experiential activities.

Jang Hee-jung, director of the Silla Korean Language Education Center at Silla University, said, "Silla University is currently a global education specialized institution exchanging with 264 universities and institutions in 27 countries overseas, with over 650 international students from 31 countries enrolled," adding, "In line with the Ministry of Education's policy to expand support for Korean language education in the New Southern and New Northern Regions, we plan to accelerate the spread of Korean by providing high-quality online training programs."
