One-Stop Verification for Welfare Service Eligibility like Youth Monthly Rent Without Document Submission
'Mobile ID' for Identity Verification via QR Code, 'Isawon Service' for Moving-in Report to Loans Also in Preparation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 13th that it has launched the ‘Digital Seoul Wallet,’ a blockchain-based non-face-to-face public service app that can be used conveniently and safely. Android phone users can search for ‘Seoul Wallet’ on Google Play to download it, and the service will soon be available on the Apple Store as well.
The ‘Digital Seoul Wallet’ app is based on blockchain technology, which stores data in a distributed manner rather than in one place, making tampering difficult, thereby enhancing personal information protection and reliability. Since all documents are encrypted on the blockchain and stored in the cloud, users can use the service with confidence. It is also possible to check the history of where and when certificates were submitted and viewed.
The main functions of the ‘Seoul Wallet’ app include electronic certificate storage and submission, welfare service eligibility verification and application, simple identity verification service, mobile ID card, and Seoul City mileage inquiry service.
After signing up and logging in to the app and entering their resident registration number, administrative information is linked, allowing users to immediately verify eligibility for public welfare services such as youth monthly rent without submitting supporting documents. About 100 types of various government-issued certificates previously stored on PCs can now be stored in the ‘Digital Seoul Wallet’ app and submitted to institutions instantly. COVID-19 vaccination certificates can also be conveniently stored and utilized.
Whether a user has multiple children or disabilities can also be verified through the ‘Digital Seoul Wallet,’ and various Seoul City mileages such as E-TAX, passenger cars, and eco mileage can be checked integrally without having to access individual sites one by one.
Starting in October this year, Seoul City plans to pilot the ‘Moving On (On)’ service through the ‘Digital Seoul Wallet’ app, which provides various functions related to moving, such as moving-in reports, fixed date issuance, and bank loans. This is a ‘public MyData’-based service that allows quick and easy processing via a mobile app without the complicated procedures of visiting community service centers or submitting documents.
Additional simple administrative services through the ‘Digital Seoul Wallet’ will also be added, such as issuing mobile reservation confirmation certificates for public facilities, confirming visits to public facilities, and verifying attendance at various education and seminar events.
