Gochang-gun to Operate 'Local Food Direct Market' Until November

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Yu Gisang) announced on the 12th that it will operate a ‘Local Food Direct Market’ near National Road No. 22 in Hajon-ri, Simwon-myeon to promote the consumption of local agricultural products and increase farmers' income.

The direct market is operated by the agricultural corporation Myeongpum Gochang (CEO Park Sooyoung).

About 40 farms participate in directly packaging, displaying, and selling more than 30 kinds of various Gochang agricultural and marine specialties cultivated by local farms, including bokbunja (Korean black raspberry), blueberries, watermelon, melon, peanuts, sweet potatoes, and salt. The market will be permanently operated until November.

This direct market is one of 11 projects selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ‘2021 Regional Food Plan Package Contest,’ securing a project budget of 11.3 billion KRW (4.6 billion KRW in national funds) until 2025, and is being implemented for the first time this year.

We will strive to revitalize the local food direct market so that farmers can have stable sales channels and consumers can purchase fresh and healthy agricultural products at affordable prices.”
