COVID-19 Vaccine First Dose Recipients Increase by 12,758 to Total 15,586,442, Representing 30.4% of Population
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] The number of people receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in South Korea increased by about 12,000 on the 10th, bringing the total percentage of the population vaccinated to 30.4%.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) on the 11th, the number of new first-dose vaccinations the previous day was 12,758.
By vaccine type, the new first-dose vaccinations were 12,742 for Pfizer, 12 for Moderna, and 4 for AstraZeneca (AZ). There were no Janssen vaccine recipients for six days starting from the 5th of this month.
As of midnight on that day, the total cumulative number of first-dose vaccinations in the country was 15,586,442, corresponding to 30.4% of the total population last year.
Looking at the cumulative first-dose vaccinations by vaccine, AstraZeneca accounts for 10,399,003, and Pfizer for 3,995,508. The cumulative first-dose vaccinations for the Moderna vaccine, which began on the 17th of last month, stand at 62,245.
The cumulative number of Janssen vaccine recipients, which started on the 10th of last month, is 1,129,686. People who received the Janssen vaccine, which requires only one dose, are included in both the first and second dose counts.
The number of people who completed the second dose increased by 39,095. Among them, 7,831 received Pfizer. Including Pfizer cross-vaccinations, the number of people who completed AstraZeneca vaccination is 31,264 (with 30,995 being cross-vaccinations).
Thus, the total number of people who have completed both doses reached 5,871,559, accounting for 11.4% of the entire population.
By vaccine type, the number of second-dose vaccinations is 3,478,334 for Pfizer, 1,263,539 for AstraZeneca (including 251,979 cross-vaccinations), and the rest are Janssen recipients.
Among AstraZeneca vaccination targets (12,505,819 people), 83.2% have completed the first dose. The vaccination rate up to the second dose is 10.1%.
For the Pfizer vaccine, among the total target group (4,672,921 people), 85.5% have completed the first dose, and 74.4% have completed the second dose.
For the Janssen vaccine, among the priority vaccination targets (1,133,497 people), 99.7% have completed vaccination.

Meanwhile, the government plans to focus on second-dose vaccinations until mid-month while preparing for a large-scale first-dose vaccination campaign in the second half of the year.
