Choo Mi-ae Directly Hits Jeong Sye-kyun and Lee Nak-yeon: "Isn't This a 'Pardon Alliance'?"
Towards Jeong Se-gyun, unified with Lee Kwang-jae: "Didn't you also inherit Lee Jae-yong's pardon pledge?"
"Lee Nak-yeon mentioned pardoning former presidents... He has walked only a flowery path rather than challenging"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, who is running as a presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, targeted former party leader Lee Nak-yeon and former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun as a "pardoning alliance" during the final Democratic Party presidential preliminary debate held on the 8th.
On that day, during the '4th TV Debate for Democratic Party Presidential Preliminary Candidates' jointly hosted by TV Chosun and Channel A, former Minister Choo said, "There are rumors that an anti-Lee Jae-myung faction alliance has been initiated. If an anti-Lee Jae-myung alliance is formed, wouldn't that be a pardoning alliance?"
Former Minister Choo questioned former Prime Minister Chung, who had unified with Assemblyman Lee Kwang-jae, asking, "Assemblyman Lee advocated for the pardon of Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong; do you also accept that?" When former Prime Minister Chung responded, "If a national consensus is formed, I think he can return as a businessman," former Minister Choo immediately directed a question to former leader Lee Nak-yeon before Chung finished speaking.
Former Minister Choo asked former leader Lee, "You had breakfast with former Prime Minister Chung, and there are rumors that an anti-Lee Jae-myung faction alliance has been initiated," adding, "Earlier this year, you advocated pardons for former Presidents Park Geun-hye and Lee Myung-bak. If you form an anti-Lee Jae-myung alliance like that, wouldn't that be a pardoning alliance?" She also pointed out, "There are many concerns among your supporters."
Former leader Lee replied, "I did not say they should be pardoned immediately, but that I could propose it when the time is appropriate," adding, "There was a lot of resistance to that issue, so it was quickly resolved."

However, former Minister Choo again criticized former leader Lee, saying, "There is an evaluation that you have walked only on a flower path rather than fighting against the huge vested interests," and added, "You mentioned a spirit of challenge yesterday (at the policy unpack show), but it did not seem to inspire much." She continued, "We do not believe that someone from the prosecution can carry out prosecution reform," and indirectly criticized him by saying, "(Former leader Lee) is from a journalism background and claims he can do media reform well." She also revisited former leader Lee's mention of creating a Special Committee on Prosecution Reform during his time as party leader, criticizing, "Regarding media reform, you said you would create a 'Media Committee.' Why create a committee instead of doing it yourself? Passing the buck, avoiding responsibility," she reprimanded.
