View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] It wasn’t just the players, referees, and basketballs that heated up the basketball court.
He, who usually dislikes putting ‘donations’ in the background like management, generously handed over a ‘bundle of money’ to the basketball courts of South Korea.
Kwon Hyuk-woon, president of the Korea Basketball Association, recently donated a large sum of money urging Korean basketball to develop further.
On the 7th, the Basketball Association announced, “President Kwon donated a whopping 1 billion won to be used for the development of Korean basketball,” adding, “It will be used where it is most needed for basketball development.”
Upon his inauguration as the new head of the Basketball Association on February 17, he said, “With a heavy sense of responsibility, I will devote all my efforts to rebuilding Korean basketball in crisis and restoring its former glory.”
True to his resolve, President Kwon has attended all tournaments and events, including the KB Kookmin Bank LiiV m 3X3 Korea Tour and the Korea Basketball Association President’s Cup National Elementary School Basketball Tournament held with IS Dongseo, encouraging the players despite his busy schedule.
Recently, he visited the training sites of the men’s basketball team that participated in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics final qualifiers, the women’s basketball team preparing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and the U19 men’s national team, continuing his encouragement and support dribbles.
President Kwon is a businessman. While managing IS Dongseo, he has taken pride in not falling behind in social contribution activities. He is known in Busan as a businessperson who coexists with the local community.
Every year, he continues to donate to the Community Chest of Korea’s Fruit of Love, supporting low-income and near-poverty families and elderly people living alone like an angel in welfare blind spots.
Earlier this year, he signed an agreement with Busan City to help abused children, whose numbers are increasing like cancer types.
He hastened the signing of the ‘Child Abuse Prevention and Support for Victimized Children Agreement.’ Over the past decade, he has donated 36.6 billion won to society. If you are curious about corporate ‘social responsibility,’ you can look at the life of President Kwon, who practices ESG management.
In 2016, he donated 14 billion won of his private funds to establish the Moonam Scholarship and Cultural Foundation. This was because his intuition told him that helping others becomes ‘real’ when it is systematic.
