Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station, Fully Committed to Preventing Summer Water Accidents
Deployment and Operation of 119 Citizen Lifeguard Teams Until the End of August
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Song Seonghun) announced on the 6th that it will deploy and operate the 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team for two months until the end of next month to prevent water-related accidents during the summer season.
The Gwangsan Fire Station 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team is composed of 60 civilian volunteers, including volunteer firefighters. They are deployed with 30 members each at Imgokgyo Bridge and Songsan Recreation Area.
The team completed pre-training organized by Gwangsan Fire Station to enhance their life-saving and first aid capabilities.
Going forward, the 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team will perform various roles over the two months, including ▲ patrolling waterfront areas to prevent water play accidents ▲ conducting life-saving and first aid in case of water-related accidents ▲ supporting CPR education for the general public organized by Gwangsan Fire Station.
