Lotte Hotel Provides Unlabeled Bottled Water in Rooms... Accelerating ESG Management
Lotte Hotel will replace the complimentary bottled water provided in guest rooms with unlabeled products.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Hotel announced on the 6th that it will replace the free bottled water provided in guest rooms with label-free products. This is the first case of introducing label-free bottled water among domestic brand hotels.
A total of 15 hotels will introduce label-free bottled water starting this month, and label-free bottled water will be provided as soon as the stock of the currently used bottled water amenities is depleted. Based on 2019 data, it is estimated that about 3 million bottles of bottled water containers were used annually, so a reduction in plastic use is expected in the future.
The size of one label on the bottled water amenities (500ml) previously provided free of charge at the hotel is 22cm in width, and if the saved labels were connected, it would reach about 660km. This distance is more than enough to cover a round trip between Lotte Hotel Seoul and Lotte Hotel Busan, which is 320km in a straight line.
To realize the new ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management slogan "Green Stay Without a Single Use" announced on the 2nd of last month, L7 Hotel and Lotte City Hotel have replaced single-use plastic containers for bathroom amenities with large-capacity, reusable dispensers. In addition, the hotel is actively working to reduce carbon emissions by switching packaging materials used within the hotel to eco-friendly materials.
