Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority to Provide 5 Container Terminal Handling Equipment (R/S) Units for Free Lease
Expectations for Resolving Loading Delays and Strengthening Cooperation Systems in Hinterland Complexes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 5th that it will promote the "Yeosu·Gwangyang Port Operator Reach Stacker Rental Support Project" as part of the COVID-19 recovery activation cooperation system reinforcement project.
This project is funded with a budget of 1.4 billion KRW from Jeollanam-do and Gwangyang City, and aims to provide free rental support for five new reach stackers (R/S) for two years within the third quarter of this year.
A reach stacker is yard handling equipment used in the yard area of the dock to load, unload, transfer, or stack containers. The authority expects that the free rental project of new reach stackers will contribute not only to resolving loading and unloading delays at the docks of Korea International Terminal Co., Ltd. (KIT) and Gwangyang Port West Container Terminal Co., Ltd. (GWCT), but also to strengthening the cooperation system for handling cargo in the Gwangyang Port hinterland complex.
