Naver to Build Second Headquarters as a 'Robot-Friendly Building'... 237 Patents Filed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver announced on the 5th that it has filed 237 patents for its 'Second Headquarters,' the world's first robot-friendly building.
The Second Headquarters, currently under construction next to Naver Green Factory, is a 'Technological Convergence' building where technologies such as robots, autonomous driving, AI (artificial intelligence), and cloud are integrated and connected. It is scheduled to be completed within this year.
The Second Headquarters is a building where robots controlled by a cloud robot system coexist with people. It features various spaces dedicated to robots, including robot-only elevators, robot-only pathways, and charging areas. Additionally, technical elements such as robot navigation considerate of humans, robot control that takes into account the movement of multiple robots, accident prevention technology, and ultra-low latency communication and control through a 5G specialized network are incorporated.
Naver has filed a total of 237 patents related to the Second Headquarters, including 22 patents on the technical characteristics of the 'building applied with a cloud robot system,' as well as indoor map creation technology necessary for operating robots in a robot-friendly building, indoor map update automation, and obstacle recognition technology.
