Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Eradicates Illegal Parking and Stopping in Port Areas
Operation of TF to Eradicate Illegal Parking for Traffic Safety and Campaign Implementation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 5th that it will operate a TF team to prevent traffic safety accidents within the port area (port roads, container wharf roads, and hinterland roads) and conduct a campaign to eradicate illegal parking and stopping.
So far, traffic accidents have occurred every year due to illegal parking and stopping of cargo vehicles and container chassis within the port area ('19: 37 cases, '20: 34 cases, '21: 6 cases), causing increased traffic confusion and raising various issues.
Accordingly, the authority has formed and is operating a TF team to eradicate illegal parking and stopping, and plans to collect opinions regarding illegal parking and stopping from the Cargo Solidarity and companies located in the hinterland complex.
In addition, through traffic safety campaigns and promotions, sufficient guidance will be provided to cargo vehicle drivers and transport companies.
An official from the authority explained, "We will create a manual to control illegally parked vehicles within the port area through consultations with related organizations such as Gwangyang City, the police station, and the container wharf operators."
