View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] Former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok sparked controversy by saying that President Moon Jae-in "looks comfortable behind bars." Critics argue that this remark goes beyond mere harsh criticism.
On the 3rd, Jeon posted on her blog a photo of President Moon, sarcastically criticizing him as "Moon Jae-in, the butler sitting behind bars, taking care of the 'precious puppies' sent by Kim Jong-un."
The photo Jeon posted was originally shared by President Moon on his social media (SNS) that day. In the photo, President Moon is seen taking care of seven puppies of the Pungsan dog 'Gom-i' from North Korea.
At the time, President Moon explained, "The Pungsan dog 'Gom-i' from North Korea gave birth to seven puppies with the Pungsan dog 'Maru' that she originally had. They are now four weeks old," adding, "All are growing healthily and have already started eating weaning food, but one puppy born through a difficult delivery is still not eating well, so I am feeding it milk little by little."
He also added, "With seven puppies, it's not easy to name them all." Gom-i is the female Pungsan dog gifted by Chairman Kim Jong-un during the 2018 inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang.

This immediately sparked backlash from the ruling party.
Democratic Party lawmaker Shin Dong-geun targeted Jeon in a post on his Facebook, saying, "It seems she is nostalgic about the recognition she once gained as a 'harsh critic,' but this is not harsh criticism; it is at the level of excrement."
He continued, "I am skeptical whether returning to politics with such excrement-level language skills is good for our political world or for herself," adding, "It is hard to find words to describe whether it is a tragedy or a comedy that such a person is a judge in the People Power Party's debate battle."
Jeon is serving as a judge along with Representative Lee Jun-seok and spokesperson Bae Hyun-jin in the debate battle 'I am the National Representative,' which is held to select the People Power Party spokesperson.
This debate battle started from a proposal by Representative Lee, who previously announced a unique pledge during the People Power Party leadership election to introduce qualification tests such as debate contests for party position selections.
