Emart is switching its private brand (PB) bottled water to a label-free product.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Emart announced on the 4th that it will switch its private brand (PB) bottled water to label-free products and will start selling them sequentially at each store from the 5th.
The targeted products are Peacock True Water 2L, Peacock True Water 330ml, and No Brand Mineral Water 2L. The product name, water source, expiration date, etc. are indicated on the cap or engraved on the upper part of each PET bottle, and detailed information such as mineral content is printed on the bundle packaging. Traders is also scheduled to launch T Standard My Water 2L as a label-free product within this month, and plans to change general bottled water and 500ml products that are not private brands to label-free in the future.
Emart expects to reduce the plastic used for labels on about 100 million bottles of bottled water annually. Since label-free bottled water does not attach vinyl labels to individual PET bottles, it can drastically reduce vinyl waste. In addition, it can increase the recycling rate of waste PET bottles by reducing the inconvenience for consumers of having to peel off labels.
