Changwon Citizens in Their 20s and 30s "High Expectations for Changwon Special City"
20s (70.9%) and 30s (72.6%) Evaluate Special City Launch as Beneficial
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Regarding the launch of Changwon Special City, which is considered the greatest achievement of Mayor Heo Seong-mu of Changwon, 87.8% of Changwon citizens responded that they are aware of it.
In particular, 70.9% of the 19-20 age group and 72.6% of people in their 30s evaluated that the launch of the Special City would help the city's development, accounting for 63.5% of all respondents.
This is the result of a survey on citizens' awareness and expectations related to the launch of Changwon Special City, scheduled for January next year.
Regarding Mayor Heo Seong-mu's job performance, 67.4% of Changwon citizens evaluated that he is "doing well." This figure showed a 2.8 percentage point increase compared to the previous evaluation (December 2020).
Regarding the response to COVID-19, 86% of respondents expressed satisfaction, overwhelmingly surpassing negative evaluations (11.5%).
As for changes in the city's residential environment, 90.1% of Changwon citizens responded that it is "better or similar to other regions."
93.5% of Changwon citizens expressed their intention to continue residing in the city, maintaining a high rate of over 90% since the survey began in 2018.
The area where the city is currently performing best was the "environment sector," with 22.1%.
Not only are the water quality of Masan Bay and the concentration of (ultra)fine dust improving, but recently, the discovery of eelgrass, salmon, sweetfish, and otters seems to have reflected citizens' positive evaluations.
As for the administrative sectors that the city should focus on in the future, citizens chose the "economic sector (44.9%)."
Next were the "welfare sector (19.4%)" and the "urban policy sector (11.2%)."
Since citizens are sensitive to the perceived economy, it is evaluated that they have posed the challenge of the need for efforts to improve the perception of the citizen economy in the future.
