Newly appointed President Jeong graduated from Gwangju Daedong High School and Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in Economics. He joined the Bank of Korea in 1987 and earned his master's and doctoral degrees in Economics from UC Davis in the United States. At the Bank of Korea, he held key positions including Deputy Director of the Economic Research Institute, Director of International Cooperation, Director of Economic Statistics, and Deputy Governor.
