Geumcheon-gu Installs Safety Mirrors to Prevent Illegal Filming at Subway Stations
Installation of Safety Mirrors at 14 Locations in 3 Local Subway Stations... Part of Geumcheon-gu Women's Association Support Project for Achieving Gender Equality
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) has installed safety mirrors in three subway stations in the area to prevent crimes related to illegal filming.
This project was carried out as part of the support program by the Geumcheon-gu Women's Association, through collaboration among Geumcheon-gu, the Geumcheon-gu Women's Association, Geumcheon Police Station, Korea Railroad Corporation, and Seoul Metro.
The safety mirrors were installed at locations with concerns about illegal filming crimes near stairs and escalators in three stations: 3 spots at Geumcheon-gu Office Station, 5 spots at Doksan Station, and 6 spots at Gasan Digital Complex Station, totaling 14 locations.
These safety mirrors, installed on the walls beside stairs and escalators, allow individuals to check the behavior of people behind them, enabling recognition of illegal filming attempts and are expected to have a psychological deterrent effect against such crimes.
Meanwhile, Geumcheon-gu supports the Geumcheon-gu Women's Association to realize gender equality and revitalize women's organizations. The Geumcheon-gu Women's Association stated, "We also plan to promote a project to attach mirror sheets at entrances of buildings in crime-vulnerable areas such as neighborhoods with a high concentration of single female households, to help residents respond effectively to unfamiliar persons approaching."
