Gimhae City Secures 4 Billion KRW in Special Grants for First Half of Year... Accelerates Six Project Initiatives
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 30th that it secured a total of 4 billion KRW in special grants for six projects, giving momentum to the promotion of pending projects.
Special grants are funds provided by the government to compensate for special financial needs of local governments, considering changes in local financial conditions and unexpected financial demands such as disasters. The city secured 4 billion KRW in the first half of the year, an increase of 186% compared to 1.4 billion KRW in the same period last year.
Although the government’s special grant budget was reduced due to COVID-19 response, the city was able to secure valuable funds to drive pending projects by strategically emphasizing the necessity of the projects.
The city secured 1 billion KRW for the maintenance of the entrance road to the Hwapocheon Wetland Conservation Management Center, 800 million KRW for the landscape improvement project of the Jangyu Daecheongcheon shopping street, and 600 million KRW for the drainage improvement project between Jangyu Sinan and Yulha 2 districts.
Additionally, it secured 500 million KRW for the Smart Town development project, 700 million KRW for the maintenance of tributaries of small streams, and 400 million KRW for the installation of CCTV to improve safety in 22 areas including Bukbu Maejeong, addressing pending issues.

Mayor Heo Seong-gon said, "As a result of discovering projects that align with the direction of special grant support and explaining them strategically, we secured a precious 4 billion KRW in project funds.
