Assemblyman Jo O-seop Secures 900 Million KRW in Special Disaster Safety Fund from Ministry of the Interior and Safety to Address Disaster Safety Risks
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jo Oseop, a member of the National Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Gwangju Buk-gu Gap), announced on the 30th that 900 million KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to resolve disaster safety risks has been confirmed.
The confirmed special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety this time include 500 million KRW for the repair work of the sewer culvert around Mudeung Children's Park to Munhwa Elementary School in Duam-dong, and 400 million KRW for the repair and reinforcement project of dangerous bridges such as Yusan Bridge and Unjeong Bridge, totaling 900 million KRW for two projects.
The sewer culvert repair work in Duam-dong is a project to prevent road subsidence by improving the structural function and durability of the facility, as it is a deteriorated facility over 30 years old with severe damage, exposed rebar, material separation, and cracks.
The repair and reinforcement project for dangerous bridges such as Yusan Bridge and Unjeong Bridge is expected to resolve safety accident risks and inconvenience to residents' passage with the confirmed budget, as the condition of the bridge deck pavement, expansion joints, curbs, and railings did not meet standards.
Assemblyman Jo said, "Following last year's heavy rain, there is a forecast of heavy localized rain this summer as well, so preparation for disaster safety accidents was urgent," and added, "Administrative and financial support necessary for inspection and repair reinforcement of aging facilities such as bridges and ditches must be expedited."
