Yoon's Candidacy Called a 'Crisis' by Chu Mi-ae: "We Must Not Fall for the Victim Cosplay"
"Yoon Seok-yeol says former Minister Cho Kuk must also prove spouse's income from the perspective of 'economic community'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Former Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae sharply criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s presidential bid, calling it a 'situation,' and expressed hope that Yoon will undergo a full-scale verification process during the upcoming presidential election.
On the 30th, recalling her time in office during an interview on YTN Radio, former Minister Chu said, "The prosecutorial power, which has been nurtured for 70 years, once shook the regime based on its formidable authority and even experienced the possibility of changing it. Furthermore, it seemed that the characteristic was being shaped that 'the Prosecutor General himself could run for the presidency and take over the regime,' and such a situation truly occurred yesterday."
This appears to be a reference to former Prosecutor General Yoon’s political declaration and formal announcement of his presidential candidacy the previous day. Former Minister Chu said, "Yoon’s presidential ambitions seem to have continued since his time as head of the Central District Prosecutors’ Office."
Regarding the so-called 'X-file,' which allegedly contains evidence of Yoon’s corruption, she said, "I don’t know the details well, but as Minister of Justice, I conducted inspections and investigations, and the problems were quite serious."
Former Minister Chu added, "Yoon will likely play the political victim card with the X-file, but we must not fall for it," and criticized, "He is a candidate heading straight to the presidential election from the opposition party side, so claims of oppression are quite hypocritical."
She also stated, "A presidential candidate must have not only themselves but also their family, relatives, and friends completely clean," and when asked by the host if she had heard of a person named 'Julie,' she replied, "I have." 'Julie' is a term used by those raising suspicions that Yoon’s wife, Kim Geon-hee, worked as a hostess at entertainment establishments in the past.

Along with this, former Minister Chu brought up Yoon’s assets and sources of income. She pointed out, "How could a prosecutor who had only 20 million won disclose assets exceeding 6 billion won?" and added, "If it is his wife’s assets, the source of income must be proven." She further criticized, "Since Yoon himself once described former Minister Cho Kuk as an 'economic community' during his time as a prosecutor, he must also properly disclose from the standpoint of an economic community."
