[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Former People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in said he "did not look up" the news about former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol declaring his presidential bid.
On the evening of the 29th, after having dinner with People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok at a hotel in Jung-gu, Kim told reporters, "I went to exercise today, so I did not hear former Prosecutor General Yoon's announcement."
When asked if he had read any articles, he replied, "No, I did not even look it up," adding, "I will probably know what he said when I see it tomorrow morning."
Regarding the attendance of about 20 People Power Party lawmakers at former Prosecutor General Yoon's press conference, he said, "They probably went out of curiosity," and questioned, "Would there be any special meaning?"
Leader Lee Jun-seok also said about the dinner with former Chairman Kim, "The topic of Yoon Seok-yeol was less significant than expected," and added, "He seemed not very interested, saying something like 'I will know later.'
He continued, "Rather, he kept giving advice on managing the party's presidential election, saying the leader must maintain focus," and said, "He told me to strengthen the policy aspect as much as possible. Since the economy will be a key issue, he advised to reinforce personnel and policies."
