Gyeongnam Province's 7 Routes Reflected in the 4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan
5 Projects Reflecting KRW 7.9947 Trillion, 3 General Railway Lines and 2 Metropolitan Railway Lines
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Seven routes in Gyeongsangnam-do have been finally reflected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan on the 29th after review by the 'Railroad Industry Committee.'
The National Railroad Network Construction Plan is a mid- to long-term statutory plan established every 10 years under the 'Railroad Construction Act.'
Once routes are included in this 4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance conducts a preliminary feasibility study to decide whether to proceed with the project. Through this process, feasibility studies, basic planning, basic and detailed design, and construction of railroad projects can be carried out in earnest.
Gyeongnam Province's three general railroad lines?Changnyeong Daehap Industrial Complex Line, Busan Port New Port Connection Branch Line, and Dalbit Inland Railroad?and two metropolitan railroad lines?Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Circular Railroad and Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan Metropolitan Railroad?totaling five projects worth 7.9947 trillion KRW were included.
The Changwon Industrial Line and Masan New Port Line were included as additional review projects.
The Changnyeong Daehap Industrial Complex Line connects the southwestern industrial complexes of Daegu. It is expected to serve as a stepping stone for balanced development between the two regions through railroad logistics and passenger transportation in central inland Gyeongnam.
The Busan Port New Port Connection Branch Line is also expected to facilitate logistics and passenger transportation by linking the new port's hinterland railroad to the Bujeon-Masan double-track electrified railway as a branch line in connection with Gadeokdo New Airport.
In the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public hearing results last April, the Dalbit Inland Railroad was an additional review project, but it was newly included this time as a joint effort to expand railroad transportation networks in non-capital regions and promote shared prosperity between Yeongnam and Honam regions.
As a result, a one-hour living zone can be formed from Daegu through Hapcheon, Geochang, and Hamyang to Gwangju.
With the inclusion of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Circular Railroad and the Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan Metropolitan Railroad, the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam area will form a one-hour living zone.
This will accelerate the early realization of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam megacity through the creation of a living, economic, and cultural community and spatial compression by expanding metropolitan transportation networks between major hubs.
