[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] North Korea is building luxury housing on the site of Kim Il-sung's former residence.
The Workers' Party organ, Rodong Sinmun, reported on the 29th that an 800-unit "Botonggang Riverside Terrace-style Housing Complex" will be constructed on the site of Kim Il-sung's former residence, the "5-ho House," in an article praising Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party, for his "dedication to the people."

The 5-ho House was Kim Il-sung's residence next to Botongmun from the mid-1950s until the 1970s, before he moved to the Presidential Palace (currently the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun). It is considered one of the prime locations in Pyongyang and is where Kim Jong-il, Chairman of the National Defense Commission, spent his childhood and youth. After Kim Jong-un was designated as successor in 2009, the residence was demolished, leaving only the site.
