This platform is being developed with two smart tourism guide platforms: the ‘Integrated Tourism Information Provision System’ and the ‘Smart Docent System’ to improve the quality of tourism services provided to both domestic and international tourists.
The ‘Integrated Tourism Information Provision System’ is a customized tourism information platform that provides key information necessary for Mokpo tourism. The city developed apps for both tourists and business operators.
The app provides information on nearby restaurants, accommodations, transportation, public parking lots, and public restrooms based on real-time location. Tourists can set their own travel courses and share reviews and photos of visited tourist sites.
Equipped with an AI-based chatbot capable of real-time communication and a 12-language translation system, foreign tourists can communicate in real time in their own language. This enhances convenience for foreign tourists and is expected to increase the number of foreign visitors.
The app is also expected to assist business owners in management. Business owners can use the user app to inform about restaurant menus, operating hours, events, and communicate with tourists by responding to reviews or inquiries.
The ‘Smart Docent System’ is a platform that provides explanations for major tourist sites such as the Modern History Street, Yudalsan Mountain, Okdani-gil, and Literature Street, and is being developed in two versions: one for adults and one for children.
Tourists can receive not only text but also augmented reality, videos, and audio on their smartphones at major tourist sites, allowing them to experience explanations as if listening directly to a tour guide, thereby learning about Mokpo’s history and culture. With explanations provided in four languages, foreign tourists can access Mokpo tourism more deeply in their own language.
The children’s version offers illustrated explanations, which is expected to be well received by family tourists accompanied by children.

Mokpo City’s smart tourism guide platform is planned to expand next year to eight counties in the southwestern region, providing integrated Jeonnam southwestern tourism information through a single app. This will not only enhance tourist convenience but also help revitalize tourism, which has been subdued due to COVID-19.
