COVID-19 New Cases Remain in the 600s for 5 Consecutive Days... First Dose Vaccination Rate at 29.8%

The number of people who have completed the first dose of vaccination has reached 15.29 million, raising the vaccination rate to 29.8% of the population.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced on the 27th at midnight that the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases increased by 614 from the previous day to 155,071. The sources of infection for the new cases were 570 local transmissions and 44 imported cases.
About 77% of the locally transmitted cases occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area. There were 242 cases (42.5%) in Seoul, 171 cases (30.0%) in Gyeonggi, and 24 cases (4.2%) in Incheon, totaling 437 cases in the metropolitan area.
Other regions reported the following cases: 23 in Chungnam, 19 in Gangwon, 15 in Daejeon, 13 in Gyeongnam, 12 in Busan, 12 in Gwangju, 8 in Daegu, 8 in Sejong, 6 in Jeonbuk, 4 in Gyeongbuk, 3 in Ulsan, 3 in Chungbuk, and 2 in Jeju.
There were 44 imported cases. Among them, 34 were detected during quarantine, and 10 were confirmed locally. Of these, 30 were Korean nationals and 14 were foreigners.
The total number of tests conducted the previous day was 37,717. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 21,528 tests were conducted, confirming 93 new cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 3,027 tests were conducted, confirming 9 cases.
The number of patients who have recovered and been released from isolation reached 146,340, an increase of 351 from the previous day. Among hospitalized patients, the number of critically ill patients decreased by 2 to 147. The death toll rose by 1 to 2,013.

Among them, 10,397,190 received the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine, 3,755,560 received the Pfizer vaccine, 17,466 received the Moderna vaccine, and 1,126,471 received the Janssen vaccine. The vaccination rate relative to the population is 29.8%.
The number of people who completed vaccination increased by 22,784 from the previous day to 4,643,211. The second-dose vaccination rate relative to the population is 9.0%.

An additional 405 people received the AZ vaccine, bringing the total number of completed vaccinations to 902,235. For the Pfizer vaccine, 22,292 additional people completed vaccination, totaling 2,614,505. There were no additional completions for the Moderna vaccine yet, and the Janssen vaccine, developed as a single-dose vaccine, counts all first-dose recipients as fully vaccinated.
