Naver Launches Beta Service for 'Topic-Based Search Results' to Enhance Search Convenience
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver announced on the 24th that it will launch a beta service for 'Topic-based Search Results' to further enhance search convenience.
'Topic-based Search Results' is a method that groups content by frequently searched topics to resolve cases where a single search term has diverse or unclear search intents, making it difficult to find the desired content.
For example, when a user simply enters ‘interior’ in the search bar, topics are categorized into ▲ interior accessories ▲ interior construction reviews ▲ online housewarming, and content corresponding to each topic is clearly provided. It is designed to structure various information on the web in a familiar way, like bookshelves in a library, so that users can easily find what they are looking for.
Even in situations where users are unsure which keywords to search for, they can immediately explore the intended content by viewing the already generated topics. Regardless of search proficiency, anyone can find the desired content easily and quickly, thereby significantly enhancing content accessibility and search efficiency.
To provide such search results, Naver classified about 2,600 topics by subdividing the subject of each keyword into three levels, such as ‘domestic travel - Jeju Island - pension,’ based on the keywords users searched and the content they clicked on.
Then, for each subject, four major genres with high user preference (recommendations/lists, user reviews/experience reviews, how-to/know-how/tips/guides, analysis/reviews/comparisons) were extracted to generate topics matching the subject and genre, and content was automatically classified accordingly.
Since various related topics are exposed even when a user enters only one search term, creators also have increased opportunities for their content to be exposed to users.
Naver supports a 'Participate' button for each topic so that creators, including influencers, can produce content based on user search intent.

During the beta service period, Naver will first provide topic-based search results for about 40 keywords closely related to daily life, such as camping, interior, home training, and sea fishing, and plans to continuously expand the keywords.
