Exclusive Taxi Service Available for Pregnant Women and Families with Infants Under 12 Months Visiting Hospitals for Medical Purposes
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will operate the ‘Gangdong iMOM Taxi’ from August to enhance mobility convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and families with infants.
The ‘Gangdong iMOM Taxi’ is a dedicated taxi service that can be used when pregnant women and families with infants under 12 months, who have difficulty using public transportation, visit hospitals or other medical facilities for medical purposes.
They plan to operate large vans to facilitate carrying strollers, and internal disinfection will be conducted after each trip to ensure safe use.
The district completed the revision of related ordinances in March to promote the project and is currently in the process of selecting a consignment operator. From August, the service will begin after a pilot operation.
Pregnant women and families with infants aged 0 to 12 months registered in Gangdong-gu can use the service by signing up through a dedicated app.
This year, eligible users will be provided with mileage worth 30,000 KRW annually, and the service will operate by submitting supporting documents such as medical certificates through the app after use.
