Jeju Coast Guard Conducts Summer Beach Maritime Patrol Rescue Capability Training
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeong-pil] The Jeju Coast Guard announced on the 22nd that it conducted training to strengthen rescue capabilities, including lifesaving techniques and first aid, for maritime police officers and conscripted police who will be assigned to the maritime patrol team at summer beaches.
According to the Jeju Coast Guard, more than 60 maritime police officers and conscripted police participated in the two-day training held from the 21st. They will be deployed from July 1 to August 31, the peak summer season, at Jeju City’s Kimnyeong Port, Sehwa Port, and Aewol Port, where they will promptly respond to lifesaving situations in case of safety accidents involving visitors engaging in water leisure activities.
This rescue capability enhancement training focused on basic first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and lifesaving techniques using personal watercraft operation to improve the lifesaving abilities of maritime patrol members. The participating maritime patrol members will be forward-deployed to the Jeju Coast Guard’s Kimnyeong Branch, Sehwa Branch, and Aewol Branch.

A Jeju Coast Guard official stated, “With the enhanced rescue capabilities from this training, we will forward-deploy the maritime patrol teams to each branch office to strengthen patrols in high-risk maritime areas and do our best to prevent any human casualties through prompt and efficient safety management operations.”
