[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A ‘Walking Day’ event for Busan citizens wishing for the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo will be held.
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) and the 2030 Busan World Expo Pan-Citizen Hosting Committee announced on the 22nd that they will hold a Walking Day event on the 23rd to pray for the hosting of the World Expo and to build consensus among citizens.
This event will take place on June 23, the application date for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo, with residents from Nam-gu, Jung-gu, Buk-gu, and Sasang-gu participating.
The walking course for Nam-gu’s Walking Day around the Uam-dong Urban Forest offers a view of Bukhang, the expo venue, and during this event, it will pray for citizen health, which is the goal of the ‘15-minute living zone city,’ along with the hosting of the World Expo.
Other Walking Day walking courses outside Nam-gu include ▲Jung-gu Bokbyeongsan Sports Park to Entertainer Street (held on the 17th) ▲Buk-gu Hwamyung Stadium to Daechoncheon Pedestrian Path area (Galmaetgil Course 6-3) ▲Sasang-gu Samnak Ecological Park area (Galmaetgil Course 6-1).
Busan City and the Pan-Citizen Hosting Committee have ▲held Walking Day with Dong-gu residents last November while viewing the Bukhang World Expo venue. Also, ▲they have conducted ‘Walkable Busan’ and Samnak Galmaetgil walking events. ▲This year, they plan to continuously hold walking events while touring 16 districts and counties.
Oh Seong-geun, Executive Director of the Pan-Citizen Hosting Committee, said, “Strong will and active participation of Busan citizens are necessary until the hosting decision in 2023,” adding, “We hope this event will unite the wishes for hosting the Expo into one.”
