Former German Chancellor Schroeder Ordered to Pay 30 Million Won in Divorce Compensation Lawsuit
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder lost a lawsuit filed by his spouse Kim So-yeon's ex-husband and, having not appealed, was ordered to pay 30 million won in damages.
On the 20th of last month, former Chancellor Schroeder did not file an appeal within the deadline after partially losing a damages claim lawsuit filed against him by Kim's ex-husband, Mr. A. Judge Jo Ara of the Family Division 4 at the Seoul Family Court, who presided over the case, accepted Mr. A's claims and ruled that former Chancellor Schroeder must pay 30 million won.

Previously, former Chancellor Schroeder and Kim each divorced their respective spouses and married in 2018. Mr. A filed a lawsuit claiming 100 million won, stating, "The condition of the divorce at the time was that Kim would separate from former Chancellor Schroeder, but the promise was not kept."
