Ministry of the Interior and Safety Launches Summer Water Play Safety Information QR Code Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 16th that it will provide a QR code service allowing people to check safety guideline videos via smartphones at summer water play sites.
Every year, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and local governments promote water play safety guidelines through various media, but since outdoor water play areas such as rivers and valleys cannot be specifically defined by facility boundaries, it has been difficult for the public to verify safety guidelines or locate safety equipment such as lifeguard boxes.
Accordingly, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety has enabled the public to easily access safety information by using QR codes containing 'Water Play Safety Information' on promotional materials such as banners and signboards. In particular, it is possible to check in advance the locations of safety equipment by local governments along with water play safety guidelines* for preventing COVID-19 infection.

Kim Jae-heum, Director of Disaster Cooperation Policy, said, “As overseas travel has decreased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and domestic water play facility users are expected to increase this year, please check safety information in advance via the QR code.” He added, “We will continue to develop safety information services tailored to the season and site.”
