This campaign was launched to provide more specific quarantine management standards and to raise public awareness of safe travel, as domestic travel has recently shown a clear recovery trend and the peak summer vacation season is approaching.
To establish quarantine management standards, the Tourism Organization, with advice from quarantine authorities, presented ‘Tourist Site-Specific Quarantine Guidelines.’ The guidelines include a total of 18 compliance items across seven areas: ▲quarantine system establishment ▲tourist management ▲movement management ▲shared facility management ▲promotion and education ▲worker management ▲compliance with guidelines and laws.
A total of 178 quarantine-excellent tourist sites recommended by the 17 metropolitan local governments nationwide are also participating in this campaign. These tourist sites pledge to implement and practice the quarantine guidelines presented by the Organization, and local governments plan to actively create an autonomous quarantine environment with tourist sites by continuously inspecting quarantine conditions. In line with this, before the peak vacation season begins, the Tourism Organization will conduct pre-inspections of quarantine conditions at tourist sites in cooperation with the Korea Quarantine Association, the Korean Public Health Doctors Association, involving retired and active public health doctors and tourism experts.
Additionally, promotional activities aimed at improving the nationwide tourist site quarantine management system, such as producing educational content for tourist site workers and promoting best practices, will be carried out until the end of this year.
The Tourism Organization will also promote the 178 tourist sites participating in the campaign on the special page of the Korea Tourism Organization’s official website, Korea Gudok Gudok. Quarantine guidelines, educational videos, and promotional materials for tourist sites will be provided on the website. In July, joint events with private companies such as T map and BC Card are being prepared to increase public interest in the quarantine guidelines.
A campaign advertisement to spread a culture of safe travel nationwide will also be produced. The recently popular virtual influencer ‘Rui’ will participate to deliver safe travel guidelines, which are easy to overlook at travel destinations, in a friendly manner. This video, to be released on the 22nd, will be disseminated through the Organization’s YouTube channel, Facebook, other social networking services (SNS), major portals, and outdoor media until July 21. In addition, a safety travel webtoon will be serialized twice in collaboration with popular Naver webtoon artist ‘Mojo,’ and a safe travel pledge event for the public will be held simultaneously.

Jung Hyekyung, head of the Safe Travel Division at the Tourism Welfare Center of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, “Since safe travel is expected to remain a major concern even after COVID-19, this will be an opportunity to establish a quarantine management system at tourist sites as a travel culture. We hope that local governments, companies, and tourists will all cultivate a mature awareness and internalize compliance with quarantine guidelines to create a safe travel environment.”
