Assemblyman Ahn Gyu-baek Tests Positive for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] On the 10th, Ahn Gyu-baek, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, tested positive for COVID-19, according to Yonhap News. This is the second case of a sitting lawmaker contracting COVID-19, following Lee Gae-ho of the same party in mid-April.
It is reported that Representative Ahn came into contact with an infected person at a local event earlier this week. Staff members of his office have entered self-quarantine.
The National Assembly Secretariat is assessing the situation and plans to implement quarantine measures centered around the National Assembly Members' Office Building where Representative Ahn's office is located. Representative Ahn attended the full meeting of the National Defense Committee at the National Assembly the previous day.
