Fair Trade Commission Chairman: "Consumers Are Sometimes Targets of Deceptive Marketing"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Cho Sung-wook, Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission, pointed out on the 10th that "consumers are exposed to dark patterns that induce purchases through behavioral economic methods, and sometimes become targets of deceptive marketing."
On the same day, at the symposium titled "The Current Status and Future Directions of School Consumer Education in the Digital Age," jointly hosted by the Fair Trade Commission, Korea Consumer Agency, and the Korean Consumer Policy Education Association in Sejong City, Chairman Cho stated, "It is the rightful role of the Fair Trade Commission to provide consumer education so that consumers can acquire rational capabilities."
He added, "Above all, the premise is that consumers have the capacity to consume rationally," and said, "We plan to present standards for consumer education and strive to ensure they are utilized and spread in school settings."
