RNT Technology Selected as a New Participant in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2021 Excellent Corporate Research Institute Development Project'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] RnT Technology announced on the 10th that it has been selected as a supported company for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2021 Excellent Enterprise Research Institute Development Project (ATC+)'.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the '2021 ATC+ Designation Certificate Award Ceremony' on the 9th at EL Tower in Yangjae, Seoul. At this event jointly hosted by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the ATC Association, several promising companies, including RnT Technology, were selected for ATC+.
ATC+ is a project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy that selects and supports corporate research institutes with innovative research capabilities. It aims to foster companies as key agents of business innovation by enhancing the research and development (R&D) capabilities of research institutes affiliated with small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies. The Ministry supports selected companies with costs for securing high-level personnel and core patents, R&D planning, and establishing management systems.
RnT Technology was recognized as an appropriate company after undergoing a rigorous evaluation process, including the overview of the company and its affiliated research institute, alignment between growth strategies and the research institute’s growth strategy, collaboration targets, and technical characteristics of R&D projects. The company will receive approximately 2.2 billion KRW in R&D funding until the end of 2024 to carry out the project "Development of next-generation substrate materials and process technology for implementing AiP (Antenna in Package) for 5G/B5G mobile communications." Korea Aerospace University and the University of Pittsburgh will participate as joint research institutions.
Based on core material source technologies, RnT Technology produces materials for wireless communication components (LTCC Powder), parts for network equipment, and battery protection devices for secondary batteries. The company expects sales of its 5G communication-related materials (LTCC powder) and network equipment parts (MLC, MCP) to increase further due to the recent expansion of global 5G infrastructure investment.
The company is also pursuing sales diversification through the secondary battery and mobility industries. Last year, it completed registration as a supplier and parts provider to major domestic and international automotive parts manufacturers with MLC parts and is supplying small quantities of products.
