[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] The National Courier Workers' Union (Courier Union), affiliated with the Service Federation of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), began a "sorting work boycott" on the 7th, delaying both the start of work and delivery departure times by two hours each.
Starting from this day, about 6,500 union members at terminals nationwide began working under the schedule of "9 AM start and 11 AM delivery departure." Accordingly, courier workers are expected to stop sorting packages and only receive individually sorted items from the company to load onto vehicles and deliver. Delivery disruptions are expected to be unavoidable in some regions. Previously, the union held a press conference on the 4th, announcing that from the 7th onward, they would no longer perform sorting work. This is due to courier companies such as CJ Logistics failing to implement social agreements, including the deployment of separate personnel for sorting tasks.

The union criticized, "Courier companies should complete and implement measures to prevent overwork, including sorting work, through the second social agreement, but they are being obstinate, making the final agreement uncertain." The union plans to continue the "9 AM start and 11 AM delivery departure" schedule until a final social agreement with the courier companies is reached. The drafting of the second social agreement, aiming for a final settlement, is scheduled for the 8th.
