Joo Ho-young: "Polls Distort Party and Public Opinion... Different Results Expected in the General Election"
"Yoon Seok-yeol Recruitment, I Am the Most Suitable Candidate"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Joo Ho-young, a member of the People Power Party running for party leader, raised concerns that the results of opinion polls conducted by media outlets and polling agencies are distorting both party sentiment and public opinion. He repeatedly emphasized that he is the best candidate to recruit former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.
In an interview on the morning of the 7th with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' when asked, "How do you read the atmosphere and trend of the party convention?" Joo responded, "They are distorting party sentiment and public opinion using opinion polls that cannot even accurately predict the final election results," adding, "Even after the party convention ends, the methods and disclosure of opinion polls need to be reviewed."
In response to the host's comment, "The cutoff results were similar to the opinion polls," he said, "That is not accurate either," explaining, "The ratio is 70% party members and 30% general public opinion polls, but they actually used 50% and 50%, and I heard that the regional and age distribution were very poorly managed."
When asked if he thinks the final election results will be different, he answered, "Yes."
Joo emphasized that he is the most advantageous candidate to recruit former Prosecutor General Yoon. He explained, "Former Prosecutor General Yoon has a Chungcheong background, right? As the party leader, I am from Daegu, so I can consolidate votes from Daegu and Gyeongbuk, which is the most advantageous position," adding, "In such a situation, if I become the presidential candidate, anyone can understand who becoming party leader would be the most advantageous for the presidential campaign."
He also continued to criticize former Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok. Joo said, "Former Supreme Council member Lee only talks about fairness but acts as if he is infallible," and claimed, "Because of things like personal relationships, he will be embroiled in disputes over fairness even before he is elected. He is too close to one side and too unfriendly with the other."
