Lotte Chemical Collaborates with Artist Kim Jeong-gi to Launch Eco-Friendly Products
Release of Pouches and Wallets as Part of Project LOOP
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Lotte Chemical has partnered with artist Kim Jung-gi to improve the culture of plastic collection.
On the 7th, Lotte Chemical announced the launch of two types of pouches and one type of card wallet as the second eco-friendly products of Project LOOP.
'Project LOOP' was born last year through the collaboration of eight companies to play a leading role in raising awareness about resource circulation and establishing a domestic circular economy system. Lotte Chemical and Impact Square coordinated the project, and Superbin, an AI-based circular resource recovery robot developer, installed Nephron, an automatic waste PET bottle collection machine.
Kumho Fibers and DY Polymer handled the crushing and manufacturing of waste PET bottles, the Korea Textile Development Institute produced fiber yarns using recycled plastics, and LAR, Beyond, and Relab took charge of making products using recycled fiber yarns. In December last year, LAR produced and sold eco-friendly bags and shoes, Beyond made jackets, and Relab produced laptop pouches.
The newly released products were supported by Lotte Chemical, Lotte Holdings, Lotte Cultural Foundation Lotte Museum, and artist Kim Jung-gi, who is known as a master among artists worldwide. Kim Jung-gi, who has always paid great attention to environmental issues, participated in the project with the hope of passing on a clean nature to his family and the next generation of children.
The large pouch and small pouch recycled six and four 500㎖ PET bottles respectively, and the card wallet recycled one bottle.
