Seocho-gu Animal Protection Honorary Monitor Petiquette Campaign Activities Begin
First Activity of Petiquette Animal Protection Campaign Held at Yangjaecheon Walkway and Seoul Memorial Park
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seocho-gu District Office (Mayor Jo Eun-hee) held a campaign to promote pet etiquette (hereinafter referred to as "Petiquette") as the first official activity of the "Seocho-gu Animal Protection Honorary Monitors" along the Yangjaecheon walking trail and at Seoul Memorial Park.
The campaign, held on the afternoon of June 1, distributed "Petiquette Guides" containing information on the rules pet owners must follow when going out with their dogs and information related to abandoned animals. Despite the hot weather, many citizens and dog owners visited the Yangjaecheon walking trail to receive promotional materials.
In accordance with Article 41, Paragraph 1 of the Animal Protection Act and Article 15, Paragraph 1 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act, on May 4, the district appointed six residents who met the qualification criteria set by the Animal Protection Act and completed the training designated by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as "Animal Protection Honorary Monitors." These monitors are responsible for reporting and providing information on animal abandonment and abuse, rescuing and protecting abused animals, and conducting education, counseling, promotion, and guidance activities related to animal welfare.
Meanwhile, the district has been promoting exemplary animal welfare policies such as enacting the Animal Protection Ordinance, opening the Seocho Animal Love Center for abandoned dog adoption and education, and operating a volunteer group for neutering stray cats along with feeding stations and winter shelters for stray cats. Together with the Animal Protection Honorary Monitors, the district plans to continuously promote Petiquette and animal protection and monitoring.
