POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Kim Ji-yong) announced on the 3rd that it signed a business agreement with Gwangyang City to promote volunteer activities and spread a culture of sharing at the Volunteer Sharing Center on the 7th floor of the Gwangyang City Community Center.
At the signing ceremony, only a minimal number of attendees were present to prevent mass infection of COVID-19, including Lee Cheol-ho, Deputy Director of Gwangyang Steelworks, Kim Kyung-ho, Vice Mayor of Gwangyang City, Lee Kwang-yong, Chairman of the Gwangyang Steelworks Partner Association, Kim Jae-kyung, Chairman of the Gwangyang City Love Sharing Welfare Foundation, and Kim Joo-an, Chairman of the Gwangyang City Volunteer Organization Council.
Gwangyang Steelworks signed this agreement to further expand the 'Talent Volunteer Group,' an asset of 'Corporate Citizenship' built through efforts for mutual development with the local community, in cooperation with related organizations, and to accelerate the spread of a culture of sharing in the local community.
The POSCO Talent Volunteer Group participates in volunteer activities by contributing the talents of employees, such as knowledge, skills, and experience. Since they are carrying out social contribution activities that are practically needed throughout the local community in various fields, it is expected to contribute to strengthening the network for regional development.
After the signing ceremony, Gwangyang Steelworks will expand the current volunteer activity sites to actively discover neighbors who have not yet received help and carry out volunteer activities in connection with the partner organizations. In addition, based on the experience of operating the Talent Volunteer Group, they plan to develop and distribute programs to enhance the capabilities of volunteers.
Lee Cheol-ho, Deputy Director of Gwangyang Steelworks, who attended the signing ceremony, said, "Taking this agreement as an opportunity, we will expand volunteer participation opportunities for all employees, including 40 Talent Volunteer Groups with about 2,200 participants, and strive to become the foundation of the sharing city Gwangyang." He added, "Gwangyang Steelworks will continue to actively cooperate in spreading the culture of sharing based on close communication and collaboration with Gwangyang City."
