"Will Find Driver Blocking Exit"... 60s Man Fined for Entering Women's Changing Room
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] A man in his 60s who entered a women's changing room to find the driver of a parked car blocking his exit was sentenced to a fine again in the appellate court.
According to the legal community on the 3rd, the 50th Criminal Appeals Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Ko Yeon-geum) upheld the original ruling and sentenced A (64) to a fine of 700,000 won on charges of trespassing. Earlier, A was indicted for entering a women's changing room at a sports center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, last January despite the manager's objection. The first trial recognized these charges and sentenced A to a fine of 700,000 won.
A's side denied the charges in the appeal. The main argument was that he did not know it was a women's changing room at the time of the incident and only entered the entrance once, but did not enter again after the manager's objection. The defense attorney said, "The prosecution's charges imply that A entered the women's changing room entrance again despite being stopped by the manager, so we deny the charges."

However, the court ruled, "It is sufficiently recognized that A entered the women's changing room despite the manager's objection." The court added, "A appeared to be quite agitated due to the car blocking his vehicle at the time. It is difficult to conclude that A's memory is accurate regarding whether he entered the changing room entrance again before or after the manager's objection." Video evidence showing A moving toward the women's changing room after a scuffle with the manager, disappearing from the CCTV camera for 1-2 seconds, and then reappearing to move toward the information desk also served as evidence of guilt.
