On the 31st, with the number of new COVID-19 cases recording 430 and maintaining the 400s for the second consecutive day, medical staff at the temporary screening clinic in Seoul Station Plaza are collecting samples from citizens. View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at a high school in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, where a cluster infection occurred, has increased by one, bringing the total to 35.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on the 2nd, as of 4 p.m. that day, one additional third-year high school student tested positive. The total number of confirmed cases so far is 35, broken down by grade as follows: ▲ 32 third-year students ▲ 2 second-year students ▲ 1 first-year student.
Since one third-year student was first confirmed positive on May 30, 29 more cases were confirmed on May 31, 4 on June 1, and 1 on June 2.
Out of 1,036 people tested so far, 995 have tested negative, and 4 results are pending. All 116 faculty and staff members at the school tested negative.
The school is conducting remote classes for all grades from May 31 to June 14. Since most of the confirmed cases are third-year students, the mock College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) organized by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation on June 3 will be held entirely online.
Testing was also conducted at a middle school adjacent to the affected high school. All 329 students and 47 faculty and staff members tested negative.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct mobile specimen team PCR testing from June 2 to 11 for schools within a 1 km radius of the confirmed cases, schools requiring preemptive testing, and schools requesting testing. Students, faculty, and circulating staff from nearby schools can receive testing.
