View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Tongyeong City in Gyeongnam announced on the 2nd that it conducted a joint marine debris cleanup activity with related organizations along the coast of Danggum Village, Maemuldo, Hansan-myeon.
About 50 people from Tongyeong City Hall, Hansan-myeon Office, and the Eastern Office of Hallyeohaesang National Park participated in the cleanup, collecting discarded Styrofoam, household waste, and waste wood that had been an eyesore to tourists visiting Maemuldo.
In particular, the 4.5 tons of marine debris collected that day were transported to the mainland for disposal using the Tongyeong Araho, which was built last year, and a pontoon boat.

A Tongyeong City official said, “There is a growing national consensus and interest in marine debris recently, and as the peak tourist season approaches, we will do our best to collect marine debris that has been left along the coast for a long time.”
