Ssangyong Motor, 8,810 Units Sold in May... 6.3% Increase Year-on-Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] SsangYong Motor announced on the 1st that it sold 8,810 units last month, a 6.3% increase compared to the same month last year.
SsangYong Motor explained that with the resumption of production activities following the delivery resumption resolution by the commercial creditors at the end of April, it cleared the backlog and recorded sales performance that increased by 101.1% compared to the previous month.
Domestic sales were 4,956 units, a 34.6% decrease compared to the same month last year.
SsangYong Motor emphasized that although domestic sales decreased compared to last year due to focusing on producing export volumes with delivery backlogs, sales increased by 49.4% compared to April, showing signs of recovery.
In particular, sales of The New Rexton Sports and Khan increased by more than 50% compared to the previous month, and there are still about 4,000 units of undelivered inventory remaining, it added.

Exports recorded 3,854 units, a 5.4-fold increase compared to the same month last year. This is the highest monthly performance in five years since December 2016.
